En route you have the option of visiting the tile factory in Waikkala and visiting the Munnishwaram Kovil in Chillaw. Arrive at your destination which is the Mud House in a rural village situated in the wildness. Experience the rural village architecture by staying in house in clay with thatched roofs done with woven coconut leaves which has al thel basic facilities available. Once you’ve settled in you can join in on a demonstration on how mud houses are built using ancient techniques.

UNESCO has now declared it a world heritage site, it is known as the Cultural Triangle and one of the most sacred places in Buddhism. On your tour you will be able to take in all the main attractions including the scared Sri Maha Bodhi (Holy Bodhi Tree) , Dagabas, Tanks, Art & Architecture. After this proceed to the Heritance Kandalama, a wonderful creation of Geoffry Bawa and one of his greatest works to date

An architectural wonder, it is host to not only the ruins of the ancient palace but also fresco’s which have become iconic imagery of the island. Later on you will visit the Dambulla rock cave temple It is home to the World’s most acclaimed Cave, as well as magnificent Buddha Images and Rock Paintings of vivid colours and shapes constructed and painted from around 2nd Century BC (Anuradhapura era ) and continued up to the Kandyan era of the 18th Century.
The rest of the day is yours to spend in the hotel at leisure.

which will take you to many places such as Lankatilaka Temple and Embekke Temple, to name a very few. They display traditional Kandyan Architecture consisingt of Temple Structures, Murals done on walls and on stone in many temples, Carvings and reliefs done on Stone and decorated Wooden Carvings on timber columns and brackets.

Proceed on to Nuwara Eliya where the landscape – with its tea plantations, mountains and waterfalls will take your breath away. You will visit a tea factory en route where you will be taken through the process of creating this fragment brew. In the evening you will be taken on a short city tour of Nuwara Eliya.

which was Bawa’s final example of his iconic style of architecture. This six bedroomed seaside resort is a wonderful place to relax, unwind and enjoy.

En route you can visit the beautiful campus of Ruhuna University and the office building in Matara, both of which are interesting examples of Bawa’s work. (subject to permission being granted from authorities). Spend the afternoon exploring the quaint maze that is the Dutch Fort in Galle, which was constructed in 1792 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Climb the ramparts that overlook the Galle International cricket stadium and explore the many delights the Fort has to offer. And the end of the day you will check into the LightHouse Hotel which was also designed and built by Bawa.

The highlight of today will be a visit to Lunuganga in Bentota, the local residence and lifetime creation of Mr.Bawa. The garden is open to visitors from 9am to 5pm daily, A guided tour of the garden is available on request. Lunch and tea may be arranged as part of the garden visit for which a supplement is chargeable on the garden entry but is limited to availability of space and occupancy of the rooms by in house guests.
